About lupus rash on legs
posted by aki on September 8, 2011
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic inflammatory condition caused by an autoimmune disease. Subacute cutaneous lupus rash can occur in both systemic and discoid forms of the disease and it generally fades in the periods of remission. Another form of lupus rash on legs are those that erupt in the form of tiny red spots. Since virtually all lupus rashes are made worse by sun exposure, sun screen becomes an extremely important prevention measure. These lesions may heal without scarring but they reappear episodically. Approximately 20% of SLE patients will experience what are known as chronic discoid lupus lesions. One should avoid sun exposure to prevent the formation of any red rashes.
